Friday, Osceola County school leaders officially broke ground on “AAA” High School. It sits on a roughly 60-acre property with plans of 11 permanent buildings.
“This is going to be supporting the students who live here in East Osceola County, who live in St. Cloud, part of Harmony, we’re going to allow them to come here to this school,” said Osceola County School District superintendent Dr. Mark Shanoff.

This construction project is just part of the dozens seen happening all over the county, which Shanoff said is a sign of more people calling Central Florida home.
“We need to make sure we have enough student stations without overcrowding any one particular school,” Shanoff said. “As these new homes go up, we need to make sure we have the school that can accommodate them.”
The school will first offer ninth through eleventh grades. It’s expected to be home to more than 2,500 students.

“It’s something very different,” Shanoff said. “It’s not your traditional high school look. It has all different types of textures along the front of the school.”
School leaders said they want programs offered at the school to represent East Osceola County like agri-business and high-tech economics. Leaders said it will also offer top-notch sports and theater opportunities.
“This is going to be that amazing space that all of our students and our community can be proud of,” Shanoff said.
This is roughly a $184-million project. Over the next year, the Superintendent told us they plan to announce a principal, an official name, and official school colors.
