FHP: Multi-vehicle crash in Orange County leaves 3 dead and 1 seriously injured

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — The Florida Highway Patrol is responding to a multiple-vehicle crash in Orange County near North Hiawassee Road and Hiawassee Meadows Drive.

Troopers said the crash happened around 6:15 p.m.

FHP said a 2003 Jeep Liberty was driving northbound on North Hiawassee Road south of Hiawassee Meadows Drive.

Troopers said a 2019 Ram 2500 was driving southbound on North Hiawassee Road south of Hiawassee Meadows Drive in the inside lane.

A witness said the Jeep Liberty lost control, crossed over the median, and began overturning.

The Jeep Liberty then entered the direct path of the Ram 2500, and as a result, it hit the Ram 2500, troopers said.

Troopers said the Jeep Liberty driver was ejected, and the can came to a final rest, overturned on its roof.

FHP said the Jeep Liberty driver and two passengers in the car were pronounced deceased on-scene.

The Ram 2500 driver was transported to the hospital with serious injuries, FHP said.

There is currently a roadblock for both lanes of travel on North Hiawassee Road.
