Marion County man indicted for meth distribution during supervised release

Prosecutors say the defendant could face at least 25 years in prison because of prior drug convictions

OCALA, Fla. — A Marion County man has been indicted on a federal charge of possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine.

Federal prosecutors said Pattreon Stokes, 35, of Summerfield, possessed at least 50 grams of methamphetamine with the intent to distribute it on July 14.

The alleged offense occurred while Stokes was on federal supervised release stemming from a 2018 conviction for possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine.

If convicted, Stokes faces an enhanced minimum sentence of 25 years and up to life in federal prison because prosecutors say he has at least two qualifying prior convictions for serious drug felonies.

The Drug Enforcement Administration and the Marion County Unified Drug Enforcement Strike Team investigated the case.

An indictment is a formal accusation. Stokes is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
