KISSIMMMEE, Fla. — The Kissimmee Police Department said they have arrested a suspect after a woman was killed by “celebratory gunfire” during New Year’s celebrations.

Officers said they responded to a home on Gull Court around 12:02 a.m. on Jan. 1.

Police said the victim, 56-year-old Carmen Ochoa, appeared to have been struck by a bullet from “celebratory gunfire.”

Ochoa was taken to a hospital, where she died, according to a report.

The police department said the suspect in connection with the fatal incident of “celebratory gunfire” was identified as 44-year-old Carlos Manuel Tejada.

Police said that on Jan. 17, Tejada was arrested and is being manslaughter for Culpable Negligence in the death of Carmen Rosa Neira Ochoa.
