Hundreds gather for the Autism Speaks walk at Crane’s Roost park

ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, Fla. — Hundreds gathered today in Altamonte Springs at Crane’s Roost Park for the 20th Autism Speaks walk, and Channel Nine’s Nick Papantonis returned as a co-emcee.

The walk is centered on ensuring people with Autism can reach their full potential by accessing resources and support throughout their life’s journey.

Rescheduled initially from its usual date in November because of the hurricane, this year’s walk raised $81,000 due to the significant turnout. The walk has raised $2.5 million since it began 20 years ago.

Autism Speaks Walks relies on volunteers to assist in team participation and local outreach. You can even recruit friends to make the event extra special.

All walks allow access to a quiet space that can be used as a safe outlet if you or your loved one living with Autism becomes overwhelmed.

Autism Speaks Walk is the world’s largest fundraising event to enhance the lives of people with autism today.

The Walk accelerates a spectrum of solutions for tomorrow and brings together people with autism.

Parents, grandparents, siblings, friends, relatives and providers who support them will all be there to extend the support a loved one may need.
