BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. — According to the West Melbourne Police Department, a shooting incident that took place at the Reserves at Melbourne apartment complex has resulted in one defendant being in custody.

What was initiated as a casual pick-up resulted in armed occupied burglary, injury by deadly weapon and the fleeing of additional shots fired.
Corban Williams (18) was charged with four counts due to the attempted crime.

Based on the information received from the police department, the understanding is that the defendant was acting with at least one additional co-defendant to commit a crime intentionally.
After the initial altercation, from which the defendants tried to rob the victim and shot him, the driver attempted to flee the scene while the defendants fired multiple shots at the car.

The victim of the shooting drove himself from the scene to the Melbourne Regional Hospital with a gunshot wound to his leg, says Melbourne police.
