Adam Scott part of early lead at Arnold Palmer Invitational

ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) — Jason Day one-putted his last seven holes Thursday and had a 6-under 66 to take a one-shot lead at the Arnold Palmer Invitational.

Day felt he was playing better, and he finally has a score to prove it. He reached No. 1 in the world for the first time last September at the BMW Championship. In the five tournaments he has played since then, Day has finished at least seven shots back of the winner.

Adam Scott, coming off two straight victories, relied on a solid short game to join a large group at 67 that included Henrik Stenson and Marc Leishman.

Rory McIlroy made a pair of double bogeys and opened with a 75. He will try to avoid missing his second straight cut against a full field.
