Falling iguanas? Amid Florida cold snap, forecasters warn reptiles could plummet from trees

MIAMI — If you’re in South Florida, you may want to keep an eye toward the sky: Weather forecasters are calling for a chance of falling green iguanas.

According to the South Florida Sun Sentinel, the National Weather Service warned Tuesday that the ubiquitous reptiles could plummet from trees during a cold snap in the region.

The cold-blooded critters “slow down or become immobile when temps drop into the 40s,” the alert continued.

“They may fall from trees, but they are not dead,” forecasters said.
