Thousands gather to ring in the New Year in Orlando

ORLANDO, Fla. — Thousands gathered in Orlando Tuesday night to celebrate the start of 2025.

The mood was positive as midnight approached and partygoers celebrated in the streets.

The Thornton Park neighborhood hosted the traditional “Orange Drop” New Year countdown after the event was moved from Church Street in downtown Orlando.

The decades-old Orange Drop celebration almost didn’t happen.

The event was initially canceled after the bars that originally hosted the event were shut down.

However, business owners in Thornton Park stepped up to ensure it happened.
