Third suspect in Sanford Best Buy homicide arrested

SANFORD, Fla. — 22-year-old James Nelson, the third and final suspect in the Sanford homicide on Jan. 9, was arrested Saturday, according to Sanford Police.

Nelson, alongside 22-year-old Khalil Hunter and 21-year-old Shundavious Dorsey, met 21-year-old Terrance Pope to sell him electronics.

The three suspects robbed Pope and shot him in the parking lot of the Best Buy located at 1501 Rinehart Road, Sanford, FL 32771 according to Sanford police.

SPD arrested both Dorsey and Hunter on Jan. 9 while Nelson was still on the loose.

According to a press conference from SPD, Nelson alongside with his mother was cooperating with authorities after a warrant was issued for his arrest.

He later declined to turn himself in and went on the run, according to SPD.

Nelson would later turn himself in on Saturday at John E. Polk Correctional Facility without incident. Nelson is charged with first degree felony murder and robbery with a firearm.
