TAVARES, Fla. — City officials in Tavares voted on Wednesday after a proposal to remove fluoride from the city’s water supply.

On Wednesday, Tavares city leaders voted to pass a motion that will immediately remove fluoride will be removed from the city’s water supply.

During a city council meeting, members voted 4 to 1 to pass the proposal.

City leaders in Tavares will meet again Wednesday to debate a proposal that would remove fluoride from the city’s water supply.

Fluoride has been added to the water in Tavares since 1995.

The city council postponed a vote earlier this month.

They said they needed more time to study the issue.

Earlier this week, the Leesburg City Council voted to move forward with a project that would add fluoride to the water system for the first time.
