SpaceX pushes back Falcon 9 rocket launch from Cape Canaveral

BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. — SpaceX’s planned Starlink launch from Cape Canaveral on Friday has been pushed back a day.

SpaceX’s website says they are now targeting Saturday at 1:23 p.m. for a Falcon 9 launch of 21 Starlink satellites, with backup opportunities available until 5:08 p.m.

If conditions are not favorable for Saturday, SpaceX will try again on Sunday, Feb. 9 starting at 2:55 p.m.

SpaceX did not provide any details on why they moved the launch to Feb. 8.

The company plans to send its Falcon 9 rocket on a mission to deliver 21 new Starlink satellites into low-earth orbit.

The satellites are used to expand Starlink’s global high-speed internet network.

SpaceX said 13 will have direct-to-cell capabilities.

After the launch, SpaceX plans to land the rocket’s booster on its droneship in the Atlantic Ocean.
