Sonic boom advisory issued for SpaceX rocket launch from Florida’s Space Coast

BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. — People in Central Florida could hear a load boom Monday evening.

SpaceX crews are preparing to launch and land a Falcon 9 rocket from Florida’s Space Coast.

The hour-long launch window will open at 6:32 p.m.

SpaceX plans to send a pair of observation satellites into orbit for Maxar Technologies.

After the launch, SpaceX plans to land the rocket’s first-stage booster back at its landing site at Kenney Space Center.

Due to the landing, a sonic boom advisory has been issued.

SpaceX said there is the possibility that residents of Brevard, Orange, Osceola, Indian River, Seminole, Volusia, Polk, St. Lucie, and Okeechobee County counties may hear one or more sonic booms during the landing.
