HOLLYWOOD, Fla. — Authorities in South Florida are watching a lake after a shark swam into it.

Some people in Hollywood woke up Thursday and were surprised to see this 10-foot mako shark swimming in the lake.
People nearby said the shark appeared sluggish and struggled in the brackish water.

The lake connects to an Intracoastal waterway.
One person even said the mako was swimming in circles and appeared lost.

“He keeps coming back this morning. He went back down the lake, and he’s coming back up again, so we’ll see what he does,” said Hollywood resident Drew Cariaso.
Scientists say it’s common for sharks to end up in lakes connected to the waterway, especially if they’re chasing food.

Authorities were able to relocate the large fish safely.
