Reported burglary ends in deadly deputy-involved shooting in Orange County

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — An investigation is ongoing after a deadly deputy-involved shooting over the weekend.

The shooting happened Saturday night at a home on West Castle Street in the Pine Castle area.

The home is not far from Lancaster Elementary School and Walker Middle School.

Deputies said they were called to the home for reports of a home invasion in progress.

When deputies got to the scene, they saw two men inside.

Investigators said they were fighting, and one of them had a knife.

Deputies said they shot a man after he refused to drop the knife.

The man was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Investigators have not officially released his name.

The Orange County Sheriff said it would be conducting its own investigation after the Florida Department of Law Enforcement reports its findings.
