Police: Girl linked to rash of car break-ins arrested in Palm Bay

PALM BAY, Fla. — Palm Bay police say a suspect in a series of vehicle break-ins is now in custody.

Investigators say an officer spotted her riding a bike near Westside Elementary School on Wednesday.

He recognized the girl from surveillance video that captured the burglaries Tuesday night, according to Palm Bay Police Department.

The agency said when the officer tried to stop her, she took off running through some area backyards.

But a short time later, police caught up with the girl and arrested her.

Police have charged her with five counts of vehicle burglary, resisting arrest with and without violence, and battery on a law enforcement officer.

On social media, PBPD shared some basic advice with the citizens of Palm Bay.

“Let this serve as a reminder: Lock your vehicle doors! A simple step can go a long way in helping prevent vehicle burglaries.”
