Police: Girl, 13, missing from Satellite Beach found safe; another teen charged in case

SATELLITE BEACH, Fla. — Satellite Beach police say a 13-year-old girl missing since Jan. 29 has been located and is safe.

Police said the teen was last spotted Wednesday afternoon at the Atlantic Plaza off Highway A1A in Satellite Beach.

Investigators said classmates of the girl believed she left home on her own will and was likely staying with friends.

Police said they worked with the girl’s family and other law enforcement agencies to develop leads on her whereabouts.

SBPD said a tip late Sunday night led them to Melbourne, where they found the girl at a friend’s home.

Investigators said they took a 15-year-old into custody and charged the minor with harboring a missing runaway juvenile.

Police said detectives are working to determine if anyone else will be charged in the case for knowingly housing a runaway.
