CBPD was on the scene near the hospital at approximately 7 p.m. to investigate.

According to a Facebook post, CBPD does not believe there is a credible threat and the area is secure.

Cape Canaveral Hospital tells Channel 9 they believe it was a “swatting situation”:

“We believe strongly at this time that this was a swatting situation. Law enforcement are on scene doing further security sweeps. We have not called an all-clear for our associates yet, but at this time we do not believe this to be a true active shooter event.”
