AMBER Alert issued for Tavares boy who police say was kidnapped by grandmother

TAVARES, Fla. — State and local law enforcement officials are searching for a boy they say was last seen on Sunday in Tavares.

Monday 3:30 a.m. update:

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement has issued a Florida AMBER Alert for Jace Saunders, age 5, last seen in Tavares.

Saunders may be in the company of his grandmother, Kelly Day-Dasilva, age 50, FDLE said.

FDLE said Saunders was last seen in the 1000th block of Wells Avenue in Tavares and was wearing a long sleeve black shirt with a multicolored graphic and dark-colored pajama pants (actual outfit shown in FDLE photo below).

The child may be traveling Day-Dasilva in a black Honda Accord, the agency said.

FDLE asks anyone who may see the child and woman not to approach them; instead, tipsters should immediately call 911 or the Tavares Police Department at 352-343-2101.

Tavares police are on the lookout for a missing and endangered five-year-old who was last seen Sunday.

Jace Saunders was last seen in the area of Summerall Park at approximately 1:19 p.m.

According to TPD’s Facebook Jace is semi-verbal and is diagnosed with Autism.

Jace is possibly in the custody of his grandmother, Kelly Dasilva in a black Honda Accord or passenger car.

Jace is approximately 3 foot tall, the photo provided is the last time Jace was confirmed to be seen.
