Police issued rifle stolen in West Melbourne car burglary

WEST MELBOURNE, Fla. — Police in West Melbourne are investigating after a person was shot overnight.

Officers said the shooting happened around 1:15 a.m. Thursday Reserves of Melbourne apartment complex.

Officials said they received multiple 911 calls about numerous shots fired in the area of Josh Court and Rocket Lane.

Officers said they found evidence of a shooting when they arrived but no victims.

A shooting victim was later reported at a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police said they believe the shooting was “an isolated and targeted attack.”

Officers believe there were possibly two gunmen who were wearing masks.

Investigators are asking residents in the area to check their security cameras for possible footage of the suspects.

Anyone with information on the shooting is asked to call the West Melbourne Police Department.
