Over 8,000 adoptive pets received homes last year, according to Animal Services

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — Orange County Animal Services has released its year-end report detailing its accomplishments, including shelter successes, community support and overall data.

The report reveals that a whopping 8,086 pets were adopted in 2024 and pet owners reclaimed 1,234 more.

“It’s been a challenging year in regard to pet intakes and we’ve struggled at various points recently with a high number of animals in care,” said Diane Summers, Manager for Orange County Animal Services.

Three hundred thirty volunteers and One hundred twenty-seven rescue groups actively support the homeless pets and OCAS.

Summers continues, “But we’ve also succeeded in helping so many vulnerable animals and the Year-End Report helps tell those individual stories. It is proof that our staff, volunteers, foster parents and rescue groups are working hard every day to make miracles happen for these individual pets.”
