Brush fire devours approximately 102-acres in Orange County

The Orange County Fire Rescue Departmentresponded to a fire that broke out near the Winter Garden area.

WINTER GARDEN, Fla. — The Orange County Fire Rescue Department, with some help from Lake County Fire and the Department of Forestry, responded to a vegetation fire that broke out near the Winter Garden area.

Reports confirm the approximately 102-acre fire began at 17421 Scholfield Rd, Winter Garden, FL.

The fire is currently 100% contained.

When the fire broke out around 2 p.m., it was reported to be at the size of 5 acres and grew tremendously.

Due to the rapid movement of the fire, the Orange County Sheriff’s Office temporarily shut down SR 429 in the area.

No reports of any life-threatening situations or the cause of the fire have been released at this time.

Forestry will send an investigator to assess the damages. No structures were reported to be lost.
