Orange County students taste test next year’s breakfast menu options

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — Thursday, Orange County students got a chance to decide what’s on the breakfast menu next year.

The school district invited 150 students to a taste test this morning to try 24 options, including ultimate cheesy grits, tortilla-wrapped omelets, and flame-roasted apples.

The menu items receiving 80% of the vote will be added to the menu.

Along with the tasty treats, students also learned about the value of a healthy breakfast before school, which health experts say kick starts the brain in the morning.

“Well we want them to enjoy it because we don’t want it to go from the serving line into the trash. we want it to go into their stomachs because a nutritional meal helps them. less disciplinary problems they can learn easier,” said Mark Watson, OCPS Senior Director of Food and Nutrition Services.
