ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — Winter Park is welcoming a new branch of the Orange County Courthouse.

The facility was announced in 2020, and on Tuesday, elected officials and community members showed up for a ribbon-cutting ceremony.
“This courthouse represents a significant investment in our community. One that will better serve Orange County for generations to come,” said Tiffany Moore Russell, Orange County Clerk of Courts.

The new facility, located on Metric Drive, near the intersection of Goldenrod Road and University Boulevard, is now staffed and will soon be up and running.
“As we open these doors today, let us remember that this courthouse is more than just a structure. It serves as a place where fairness and justice shall prevail,” Orange County Mayor Jerry Demings said.

Almost 20 million dollars went into the project.
The funds came from Orange County, and Demings believes it was money well spent. “Orange County is proud to invest 18,9 million dollars in this courthouse, which is three times the size of the old courthouse,” he said.

Some of the services available to residents will include marriage licenses and ceremonies, and passports, There will be a self-help center, an attorney consultation room, and more.
“This new Winter Park courthouse, unlike other courthouses in our circuit, has been specifically built with the technological infrastructure to hold virtual hearings,” said Judge Lisa Munyon, Ninth Judicial Circuit Court Chief.

The new facility will also open one Saturday a month to accommodate more residents.
The official grand opening is expected in the next couple of weeks.
