There’ve been more than a few headlines this past week that carry significant implications about what the next four years will look like under a Trump White House.

Amid a whiplash of executive orders that don’t have direct bearing on real estate (but could have implications for the broader economy) are a few that might, including an order directing the General Services Administration to draw up recommendations requiring that federal buildings “respect regional, traditional and classical architectural heritage.”

Speaking of the GSA, a tech entrepreneur was tapped to serve as the acting administrator and deputy administrator of the agency, which oversees the federal government’s immense real estate portfolio. Additionally, a number of obsolete federal office properties south of the National Mall in Washington, D.C., are being eyed as potential candidates for disposal.
