BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. — State troopers are investigating a deadly crash in south Brevard County.

It happened shortly before 6:30 a.m. Tuesday on US-1 just north of 1st Street in Grant-Valkaria.

Florida Highway Patrol said the two-vehicle crash involved a pickup truck and a motorcycle.

Investigators said the truck had a boat trailer attached to it. Troopers said the driver was southbound on US-1 when he tried to make a lefthand turn.

FHP said his pickup traveled into the direct path of the northbound motorcyclist, who then collided with the truck’s attached boat trailer.

The motorcyclist, 56, of Vero Beach, was rushed to a hospital but died.

Investigators said the driver of the truck, 68, of Malabar, remained on scene after the crash.

FHP reported roadblock on the northbound lanes of U.S. 1 around 1st Street, but cleared the crash around 10 a.m.

The crash remains under investigation.
