ORLANDO, Fla. — More people enrolled in Florida’s insurance program despite efforts to move policies to private insurers.

Nearly 2,000 policies were added to Citizens Property Insurance last week.
Officials from Citizens say they are trying to get the program only to cover over 770,000 people.

The state insurance program was created as an insurer of last resort.
However, it quickly grew in 2023 because insurance companies refused to cover some Floridians.
