Massive raised circle interchange at Epic Universe aims to help improve traffic

ORLANDO, Fla. — A massive new interchange is being built to help solve a decades-old problem at our local theme parks.

Universal Orlando says a large, elevated traffic circle at its new Epic Universe theme park will help keep drivers on the go.

Universal welcomed Channel 9 on the property to see the massive interchange up close.

Universal Orlando says everything about its new park will be “Epic.”

It’s quite an advanced road construction project taking place.

The raised circle has a unique design that leaders believe will become a regional landmark.

It’s the focal point of the Kirkman Road Extension Project.

The elevated circle will get people into the park, while regular traffic will be able to move through the area.

By the time the park opens in May, drivers will see 1.7 miles added to Kirkman Road from Carrier Drive through Sand Lake Road and down to Universal Boulevard.

It will help ease traffic in this busy area that includes the Orange County Convention Center, Lockheed Martin, UCF Rosen School of Hospitality, and the soon-to-be Epic Universe.
