MCFR saves woman from structure fire

MARION COUNTY, Fla. — Marion County Fire Rescue units were dispatched yesterday to NW 61st lane, Ocala, to a structure fire with trapped persons.

MCFR paramedics transported two patients to a local trauma hospital.

The cause and origin of the fire remain under investigation.

Before arriving at the scene, dispatchers received multiple 911 calls reporting the structure fire as ablaze and smoking.

The calls also reported that possible persons were trapped inside, according to MCFR.

Once on the scene, the single-story home was assessed to be in heavy fire conditions, and firefighters immediately went to work.

MCFR entered the home through a window and pulled a woman to safety from the smoke and flames within minutes of arrival. Two additional occupants of the house were able to get out of the burning structure.

Additional firefighters arrived on the scene to help assist with the heavy fire conditions. Teamwork, readiness and action contributed to the fire being distinguished and declared under control within minutes.

“We commend the bravery and professionalism of our firefighters, whose swift actions saved lives today,” says MCFR.
