MARION COUNTY, Fla. — Marion County Sheriff’s Office major crimes detective arrested Brayan Alvarez-Torres for four counts of Possession of Child Pornography and one count of unlawful use of a two-way communication device to facilitate a felony.

Major crimes detective Sutliff received a tip in November from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children in regards to a user that uploaded multiple files of child sexual abuse material to the popular gaming platform Discord.
Sutliff later determined after a thorough investigation that Alvarez-Torres was the user who uploaded the files.

A second tip from NCMEC indicated that the 17-year-old sent messages in a group chat advertising his possession of CSAM.
Two detectives went to follow up with Alvarez-Torres’s parents, and they determined that Alvarez-Torres was the sole user of the Discord account.

According to the report, He ultimately admitted that he had been downloading material displaying CSAM because other users advised they would gain “rank” for him if he acquired the material for them.
Alvarez-Torres also stated that his phone contained more than 30 files with CSAM.

After a digital forensic examination of the device is completed, the situation will likely result in additional charges.
