Man to be sentenced after fight over sidewalk led to deadly shooting in downtown Orlando

ORLANDO, Fla. — A man will be sentenced Friday in the murder of a retired U.S. Army corporal.

Joseph Torres was shot and killed in May of 2021.

A jury found Shaun Engram guilty in his death back in November.

The shooting happened on Orange Avenue near Central Boulevard.

Investigators say this stemmed from a fight over the sidewalk.

This all happened a block or two away from the Orange County Courthouse.

Engram will learn his fate after being convicted of second-degree murder.

Torres, a father of three, was walking with a friend when he encountered Engram and a group of men.

Surveillance video shows Torres trying to walk through, but Engram blocked him.

Words were exchanged, a fight broke out—and seconds later, Engram shot Torres three times as he tried to run away.
