Man arrested after modifying minivan to steal 300 gallons of fuel in Ocala, police say

OCALA, Fla. — A man faces several charges after being accused of stealing gas in Ocala.

However, police said they had to chase after him as he fled from law enforcement.

An Ocala police officer and “Creed,” his K9 partner, chased the man down after he sped away from a police stop.

Officers said they were called to the RaceTrac gas station on College Road after reports of a minivan driver stealing gasoline.

Police said they discovered huge tanks hidden inside the van.

Officers said he was using a modified minivan to siphon the fuel.

Investigators said Juan Abreu-Reyes stole nearly 300 gallons of diesel fuel worth around $1,084.86.

Reyes is facing multiple charges, including operating an unregistered vehicle.
