Florida’s special session ends quickly on opening day

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Lawmakers in Florida started a special legislative session on Monday.

The session didn’t last long and ended around 15 minutes after it started.

Gov. Ron DeSantis called for the special session, which will focus on how to handle illegal immigrants in Florida.

Channel 9 anchor Greg Warmoth and investigative reporter Shannon Butler will have live team coverage of the special session on Eyewitness News.

Eight bills have already been filed titled “Combatting Illegal Immigration.”

Each bill will face serious debate, and it could be signed into law if it makes it to the governor’s desk.
