ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — The historic town of Eatonville welcomed the special visit from the prestigious Howard University’s all-black swim team to the newly renovated community pool.

Howard University’s swim team is the only Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) swim team competing at the Division I level.
The team has national acclaim for its attributes in the water and its representation of Black achievement in athletics.

The spirit of inspiration and resilience was in the air as the team took photos and conversed with community members Eatonville holds dear.

The Eatonville community pool has been closed for nearly a decade.
The pool is now transformed into an updated and modern facility that serves as a recreation, engagement, and youth development hub.

Mayor Gardner reflected on the importance of this space, saying, “This pool is more than a recreational facility—it’s a gathering place that unites our community and inspires the next generation of leaders, athletes, and visionaries.”
