Those worries deflated when deputies said they discovered that the large scaly creature was full of nothing but hot air.

The Polk County Sheriff’s Office said a deputy found the gator, but soon realized it was nothing but a realistic looking pool floatie.
“He came…he saw…he conquered the beast,” the department posted on Twitter Wednesday along with photos of the deputy and the inflated gator.

In the hashtags of their post, the Sheriff’s Office suggested that next time their officers might be called upon to wrestle a pool noodle.
Deputy Trexler went to a call about an alligator in a storage shed. He came…he saw…he conquered the beast. He even knocked the wind out of it. Literally. The gator turned out to be a pool floatie. #PCSO#Crikey#TheGatorHunter#TuneInNextTimeWhenHeWrestlesAPoolNoodle pic.twitter.com/5ZXRnG3tBW
