Freight fraud is on the rise and driving up insurance and transportation costs.

“You can have a load of anything stolen,” said Curtis Adams, an account executive at Lexington, Kentucky-based Longship, whose St. Petersburg office is the largest beyond its headquarters.

“They used to be mainly high-value commodities. They will steal vegetables, cheeses or energy drinks.”
