Former Volusia County school employee facing charges for lying about being raped by football players, deputies say

The former Spruce Creek High School athletic trainer is facing charges for lying about being raped by four football players, according to a police report.

Brianna Walker is charged with contributing to the delinquency of a child and making a false report of a crime, both misdemeanors.

Four football players admitted having sex with Walker at her home in New Smyrna Beach in May of 2018, but said it was consensual, the police report states.

Walker, who was 23 at the time, told police she was raped.

Walker admitted to drinking whiskey and smoking marijuana with the students, according to a police report. She also told police she was blacking out, but does remember having sex with the students, and that “it is possible, sex with (one of the students) was consensual.”

Walker’s attorney said she denies the criminal allegations that have been made against her and has entered a plea of not guilty.

The football players were cleared of the charges in 2018.

Dan Diacont, Sr. keeps his fireplace mantle full of the honors his son earned playing football at Spruce Creek. His son was one of the four teammates named in a rape investigation. His son lost a full scholarship he earned to play football at Clarke University. He was awarded a scholarship at Florida State University and hopes to become a walk-on player there.

“At some point there has to be some accountability,” Diacont, Sr. said. “(She) made a statement that wasn’t true. And the other kids suffered as well.”

Walker resigned from the school and moved out of state after the incident. Her trial is set for later this month.

“I don’t want to be vindictive about it, but at the end of the day, (my son) suffered and he paid consequences, and she had nothing,” Diacont, Sr. said.
