TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — All eyes are on Gov. Ron DeSantis after state lawmakers wrapped up a special session by passing a bill on immigration.

The bill passed after going up for a vote around 8 p.m. on Tuesday.
The bill would end in-state tuition for undocumented college students.

In addition, Florida’s commissioner of agriculture, Wilton Simpson, would become the chief immigration officer.
And there would be a mandatory death sentence for illegals convicted of murder.

As well as reimbursement to law enforcement for assistance with ICE.
Republicans seemed frustrated by the governor’s threat to veto the measure.

“I don’t know what his future plans are, but I wouldn’t want one of my few details to preserve illegal immigrants to get in-state tuition. If that what he wants to do, he can do that,” said Rep. Randy Fine.
The governor called the bill weak and toothless Tuesday night.
