FLAGLER COUNTY, Fla. — Flagler Beach residents are feeling the chill of a strong front that has brought unseasonably cold temperatures and relentless rain to the area.
Wind chill values on Wednesday dipped into the 30s, creating more of northern winter atmosphere instead of one that Floridians are used to bragging about in January.

The persistent wind was the biggest culprit, making it feel even colder and damper than the reading of the thermometer.
Residents on Flagler Beach were bundled up, but Channel 9′s Q McCray found some who decided to brave the elements.
Roxanne Pierzyna, who didn’t let the cold snap keep her from her morning walk, described the weather as “chilly” and “refreshing.”

But she quickly admitted she wasn’t a fan of the rain. “No, the rain could go. If it was just cold, that’d be one thing, but the rain, yeah, okay, it could go.”
Allan Smith, another Flagler Beach resident, echoed those sentiments while riding his bike.
“Oh, man, you’re looking at me. If the wind would slow down, it wouldn’t be that bad,” he said.
Smith was bundled up in layers, including a hockey sweatshirt, a fitting choice for the frigid day. “I could deal with that, you know, the colder weather, yeah, but this wind don’t stop. It’s crazy,” he added.

Even the birds seemed to agree the weather was unfit, as they huddled together on the sand, appearing to struggle to stay warm.
Meteorologist David Heckard said the rain will begin to move out later Wednesday, bringing some relief to weary residents.
But with scattered showers and more brisk temps on tap for Thursday, they’ll have to continue their efforts to stay warm and dry.
