BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. — It’s a first for Central Florida, and the world.

We’re only two days away from a 3D-printed rocket lifting off from the Space Coast. The rocket is scheduled to launch from the Cape Canaveral Space Force Station on Wednesday.

The rocket will not be carrying a payload.

The launch, also known as the “Good Luck Have Fun” Mission, is the first flight for the 3D-printed Terran 1 rocket. The goal is a successful orbital flight test.

The company behind the rocket, Relativity Space, can 3D print a rocket in two months. The rocket set for launch this week is 85% 3D-printed.

The 110-foot-tall rocket is capable of carrying 2,700 pounds into low-Earth orbit. However, a successful flight test could carry bigger implications.

Relativity already has plans to launch a larger, more powerful 3D printed rocket, the Terran R, from Florida’s Space Coast next year.
