FHP: Three vehicle crash in Lake County leaves one dead and one injured

LAKE COUNTY, Fla. — Florida Highway Patrol responded to a crash in Lake County Wednesday morning on County Road 42 and State Road 19.

At approximately 6:08 a.m. a 2006 Chevrolet Cobalt was traveling eastbound on County Road 42 east of State Road 19, while two vehicles were traveling westbound, according to an incident report.

The 21-year-old driver of the Cobalt lost control, avoiding a curve and coming into the path of the first vehicle traveling in the westbound lane.

The cobalt struck the front of the first vehicle, the second vehicle attempted to avoid the collision, but was unable to do so, according to FHP.

The driver of the cobalt was pronounced dead on the scene, while the other drivers remained on scene.

The crash is under investigation.
