VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. — Troopers say a man died after crashing a pickup truck Thursday night in north Volusia County.

Around 9:15 p.m., troopers responded to a stretch of Murphy Road near Pierson.

On scene, they found an overturned pickup truck south of Chameleon Road, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

According to a crash report, investigators believe the driver of a Toyota Tacoma was traveling northbound on Murphy Road, above the posted speed limit.

Troopers said he lost control and was ejected when the truck overturned.

FHP said the driver was not wearing a seat belt; he died at the crash site.

Investigators did not release the man’s name, but said he was 18 and lived in Pierson.

A 19-year-old passenger in the truck, also of Pierson, suffered minor injuries in the crash, FHP said.

The crash remains under investigation.
