It happened Sunday just before 3:30 p.m. at Rasley Road and Brasher Road.

A 13-year-old girl died in the crash and another girl, 14, was hurt, according to Florida Highway Patrol.

FHP said both were riding as passengers on a 2006 Yamaha Rhino 660, a two-passenger ATV with side-by-side seats.

Troopers said two other 13-year-old girls — the driver and a third passenger — were also on board the ATV at the time of the crash.

Investigators said the driver was traveling westbound on Rasley Road when she lost control and drove off the roadway.

The ATV then overturned and ejected the girls, FHP said.

The passenger, 13, who troopers said died at the scene, lived in Edgewater; a 14-year-old passenger from New Smyrna Beach suffered minor injuries, according to the agency.
