SUMTER COUNTY, Fla. — A crash involving a dump truck and a van early Tuesday in Sumter County has turned deadly, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Shortly after 5:30 a.m., troopers responded to the intersection of County Road 476 and State Road 471 near Bushnell.
FHP said investigators on scene determined that the driver of the dump truck was traveling eastbound on CR-476, when he failed to stop at a posted stop sign.

Troopers said a Chevy van traveling northbound on SR-471 collided with the truck at the intersection.
The van’s driver was hurt and taken to a hospital but later died, FHP said.

Officials did not release his name but said he was a Webster resident, age 45.
Troopers said the driver of the dump truck. 63, of Floral City, was not injured in the crash, which remains under investigation.
