DeSantis says special session will address Florida’s actions to implement Trump’s immigration plans

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Gov. Ron DeSantis is calling on a special legislative session to prepare for immigration policies expected from President-elect Donald Trump.

DeSantis announced Monday that Florida must be ready to enforce immigration laws and work closely with the new administration on potential executive orders and policy changes.

The special session on immigration will be held on Jan. 27.

The session will also address other pressing issues, including hurricane relief, condo safety, fraudulent signature petitions, and inflation.

“The state of Florida stands ready, willing and able to be able to help facilitate these policies that will benefit Floridians and the American people,” DeSantis said. “There’s going to be some ambitious policy changes that are going to be instituted on day one. Particularly in respect to immigration and major executive orders that are going to unwind the bad policies of the Biden administration.”
