DELTONA, Fla. — Deputies in Volusia County said a man was arrested after a deadly shooting in Deltona.
Investigators said a 21-year-old man was killed in a shooting at a condominium complex in Deltona early Monday morning, and the suspect was detained shortly afterwards.
The shooting occurred at 140 Orchid Woods Court, where deputies responded shortly after 1 a.m. following multiple reports of gunshots and screaming.
The victim was found deceased with multiple gunshot wounds outside a second-floor unit.
The suspect was identified using video surveillance from a doorbell camera, which provided deputies with an immediate and detailed description.
This led to the suspect being taken into custody near Providence Boulevard and Perimeter Drive at 1:15 a.m.
A K-9 unit searching the area recovered a black backpack believed to have been discarded by the suspect along a nearby bike trail.
The investigation is ongoing, and charges are pending as detectives continue to gather evidence and interview witnesses.
