ORIGINAL STORY

A truck driver is dead after a three-truck crash on the Florida Turnpike in Osceola County, causing the road to shut down Friday morning.

The crash happened around 3:20 a.m. on the southbound lanes near mile marker 248.

Troopers said the driver of a semi truck did not realize traffic was slowing ahead of them, and plowed into the back of the second truck.

That truck then hit the truck stopped in front of it.

The first truck -- the one that started the crash -- caught fire, troopers said. The driver died.

The driver of the middle truck is now in the hospital with serious injuries, while they said the third driver remained on scene and was not hurt.

The deceased driver’s identity has not been released while their family is notified.
