Deadly crash near Kissimmee leaves troopers seeking tips on hit-and-run driver

OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla. — Florida Highway Patrol is investigating a deadly crash that happened early Friday near Kissimmee.

8:30 a.m. update:

FHP reports this deadly crash involved a pedestrian and a motorist who drove away from the scene after the collision.

Investigators said an unknown vehicle — possibly a white Acura MDX SUV — was traveling northbound on the inside lane of Buenaventura Boulevard, north of Osceola Parkway.

Around 1:20 a.m., that vehicle struck a man who was trying to walk across Buenaventura Boulevard, troopers said.

After colliding with the man, the driver left the scene, driving northbound on Buenaventura Boulevard, according to FHP.

Investigators said the pedestrian, 42, of Kissimmee, died at the crash site.

Troopers are urging anyone with tips about the driver or vehicle involved in the crash to call FHP at 407-737-2213 or Crimeline at 800-423-TIPS.

The crash remains under investigation.

Troopers shut down a stretch of Buenaventura Boulevard in the area of Osceola Parkway around 2 a.m.

Eyewitness News was near the scene of the crash around 5 a.m. and spotted multiple evidence markers on the roadway.

FHP reopened Buenaventura Blvd. shortly before 6:30 a.m.
