DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — Tensions were high on the campus of Bethune-Cookman University on Friday as students staged a protest.

The protesters voiced concerns over five members of the university’s Board of Trustees.
Student government leaders and other students expressed their dissatisfaction with the way the board has conducted the search for a new president.

The students took their signs to the board meeting Friday morning.
Former judge Belvin Perry chaired the board of trustees and said he agreed with the student’s objections.

At today’s meeting, Perry was voted out as chair but would still remain on the Board of Trustees.
The Board elected Vice Chair Pete Gamble to replace Perry as chair.
