Valerie Boey joined WFTV in March of 2025, as a general assignment reporter and fill-in anchor, but has been covering news for more than three decades. This veteran journalist has experience covering courts, crime, business, investigative, education, and extreme weather coverage. Before coming to Orlando more than 16 years ago, the award-winning journalist worked at WTSP in Tampa, where she was a breaking news reporter and was also based out of Tallahassee, as a political reporter. Valerie started her career at WINK-TV in Fort Myers. She was the Collier County Bureau Chief. She has also made appearances on FOX News, CNN, The Weather Channel and FOX Weather. When she’s not at WFTV, Valerie operates her freelance journalist business call VBR Ink. She creates stories about organizations, businesses, events, and news. She’s also an emcee, as well as a media consultant. Valerie is President of the Asian American Journalists Association Florida Chapter and mentors both professional and student journalists. Valerie was named by Orlando Magazine, as one of the 2025 Women of the Year honorees for her service to the community. She’s also been previously recognized in the Congressional Record for her Asian American Pacific Islander leadership. Valerie and her husband Jeff enjoy traveling, playing golf and going to the beach!
